Chapter 11

Jasmine and I are in the kitchen. I’m teaching her how to make her favourite brownies when we hear a commotion outside. Dropping the spoon that I was mixing with, I follow her to the courtyard, just in time to see Bion and Cassius carrying Brandr with Wulf following them.

“What happened?” Jasmine asks rushing after them. Wulf stops; turning, he takes hold of her waist and holds her back.

“It’s okay my Angel, Brandr got hurt, but he’s going to be fine. Don’t worry, Bion is just going to examine him.” At his words, I see her slump against him. I haven’t known the guys for long and the thought of one of them being hurt freaks me out, I can just imagine how she is feeling.

“Can I see him?” she asks, but Wulf is already shaking his head. Why do I get the feeling that he isn’t telling us everything?

“Not yet. Why don’t you go finish your brownies with Gabriela while Bion examines him. Once he is up to visitors I will come and get you.” Wulf doesn’t wait for a response, he kisses her forehead, turning her towards me with a gentle push and then makes his way to the infirmary.

Jasmine is standing in front of me with a worried look on her face. I can tell she also thinks there is more to the story than what Wulf has said. “Brandr isn’t okay,” she states, looking haunted.

“How do you know? Wulf said he was going to be okay?” I ask curious to know if what I am feeling is true.

“I feel Wulf’s anger and his pain. If Brandr was okay he wouldn’t be feeling pain.” As I see the tears in her eyes, I pull her towards me, hugging her close to give her comfort. I wonder where Bjarni is. It doesn’t look like he came back with the guys. When I had spoken to him on the phone I had felt relieved; more at peace, knowing that he was okay, but now after seeing Brandr hurt, my heart is racing and I just want him here with me.

“Also, the guys never stop me from being close when one of them is hurt. Now that Brandr is hurt Wulf doesn’t want me there.”

“Maybe it’s because you are pregnant. You did say they are always trying to protect you and not to worry you.” I try to calm her fear, but deep down I agree with her. I don’t think they are telling us the truth. “How about we go back to finishing those brownies?” I guide her towards the kitchen, hoping that Bjarni gets back soon to calm my rising fears.

After placing the brownies in the oven, I walk towards Jasmine who is sitting at the table. After getting back to the kitchen I had finished mixing the brownies. It had been obvious that Jasmine wasn’t interested in making them anymore, so I had insisted that she sit while I placed them in the oven.
